The Valve Technician is responsible for completing assigned duties to ensure customer, team member, and vendor satisfaction. The Valve Technician does this by overseeing the maintenance, repair, and optimization of valve systems. The Valve Technician is also responsible for utilizing their technical expertise, adhering to safety protocols, and communicating effectively. The Valve Technician completes these functions in support of the manufacture of dairy-related products.

  • Responsible for achieving assigned goals in production, safety, quality, performance, and cost.
  • Notifies others of mechanical malfunctions to increase productivity and equipment capabilities and begins to identify areas where operators can assist in resolving concerns.
  • Responsible for complying with GMPs, SOPs, corporate and/or plant policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and execute repair procedures for valves and associated equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and safety standards are met.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, follow established procedures, and ensure compliance with safety regulations, including S.Q.F. certification.
  • Monitor and manage inventory of valve parts and kits, aligning with repair frequency and ordering supplies as necessary.
  • Train and support other technicians, providing guidance on valve work procedures, and occasionally assisting in training outcomes documentation.
  • Regularly communicate with maintenance and plant leadership, reporting on completed repairs, and equipment issues, and collaborating on maintenance schedules.
  • Uphold safety practices, ensure adherence to quality standards post-repair, and maintain a clean working environment.
  • Aids and supports all areas in the production facility as assigned by supervisor/lead and begins to train and build competence on key areas in production such as fillers, forklifts, and production lines.
  • Responsible for gaining competence in online circuits and learning proper hookups made in the facility.
  • Covers breaks lunches and other staffing needs as assigned by their supervisor/lead.
  • Works safely and reports safety concerns promptly to their supervisor/lead and takes corrective actions as necessary to ensure a safe environment.
  • Responsible for reporting food safety problems and initiating action and for supporting SQF by maintaining food safety and food quality.
  • Responsible for ensuring direct reports assigned duties and responsibilities are covered during planned and unplanned absences from work, including acting as a backup as necessary.
  • Ensures work areas are sanitary and strictly adhere to sanitation practices.
  • Communicates effectively between shifts and other departments.
  • A minimum GED or High School Diploma is required.
  • Technical training or electrical/mechanical technician degree.
  • Minimum 2-3 years experience within the mechanical field.
  • Minimum 1-year experience in the repair and rebuild of valves.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in processing.
  • Experience with programmable logic controllers, instruments, and controls.
  • A food manufacturing background is a plus.
