About the position
Assembled is seeking a UI Engineer to join their team and be the bridge between design and code. In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining their design system and UI component library, collaborating with designers, engineers, and PMs on product and web experience, and interacting with end users to gather feedback and improve the UI. The ideal candidate should have at least 2 years of experience in building high-quality web applications, be knowledgeable about web trends and web accessibility standards, and have a strong attention to UX and UI details.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain the design system and UI component library
- Establish best practices for UI to ensure a consistently excellent user experience
- Collaborate with designers, engineers, and PMs on product and web experience
- Audit, design, and build foundational UI and UX across the product and web surfaces
- Prototype interactions and data visualizations
- Expand the range of solutions for UI
- Interact with end users to gather feedback and discuss UI
- Watch users use the product and listen to their challenges
- Stay informed about UI/UX trends and web technology innovations
- Familiarity with web accessibility standards and techniques
- Attention to detail in interaction design, grid layout, button and form states and styles, typography, and navigation.
Requirements
- At least 2 years experience building high-quality web application software with HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- Proficient in writing unit tests and ensuring good front-end performance
- Familiar with UI/UX trends and latest innovations in web technology
- Knowledge and interest in front-end infrastructure (build processes, testing libraries, etc.) is a bonus
- Familiarity with web accessibility standards and techniques for resolving common accessibility issues
- Keen skills in interaction design and attention to UX and UI details
