About The Position

The Ultrasound Technologist at Mount Sinai Health System is responsible for performing ultrasound examinations and procedures, providing technical assistance to Radiologists, and ensuring the maintenance and care of ultrasound equipment. This full-time position requires the technologist to prepare patients, conduct exams, and communicate findings effectively while adhering to established protocols and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Associates degree (AA) or equivalent from a college or technical school.
  • 0-2 years of experience as an Ultrasound Technician.
  • SPI Certification and graduation from an accredited Ultrasound Technician program.
  • Completion of ARDMS certification within one year of hire.
  • Completion of RVT certification within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and examines all patients for ultrasound examinations, verifying their identity and health status.
  • Communicates with patients to explain the exam and instructions, addressing any questions.
  • Develops and modifies procedure plans based on patient health status and medical history.
  • Performs ultrasound exams under physician supervision, adjusting techniques to optimize image quality.
  • Analyzes sonographic findings to ensure comprehensive exams for accurate diagnosis.
  • Records diagnostic images and data for physician review and archival purposes.
  • Provides patient education relevant to specific imaging procedures.
  • Ensures all images are appropriately labeled as per departmental SOP.
  • Assists with quality assurance and quality control programs to comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains cleanliness of the ultrasound room and equipment before and after shifts.
  • Records patient tracking information and exam notes into Epic Radiant.
  • Informs supervisors of needed repairs or unsafe conditions.
  • Adheres to infection control policies to prevent the spread of infection.
  • Attends professional development meetings and maintains Continuing Medical Education credits.
