About The Position

Applied Concepts has been known for its outstanding law enforcement Radar & Lidar systems for over 47 years. We're based in Richardson, TX, less than 3 miles from the UTD campus. We have experienced steady growth over the years and our Engineering team is no exception! We are seeking one UI Design Intern who will provide expertise in user interface creation, design, documentation, and assist developers with implementation of the user interface. This role helps provide translation between business needs and software development requirements, as they get communicated to the development team for feature implementation or other actionable development tasks. Our senior Web Portal Administrator will provide training, mentorship, and guidance to expand your skillset and help you succeed.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently graduated from a technical training program that includes curriculum in User Interface design and implementation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Developed skills and artistic style, able to establish and maintain a high quality user experience.
  • Excellent skills in story-boarding and graphic illustrations, communicating complex ideas using visual techniques.
  • Prior experience or interest in project management and coordinating activities among cross-functional teams.
  • Prior experience or interested in requirements gathering and definition, ideally in a customer-facing role.
  • Able to work well with engineering teams and provide feedback in a professional and constructive manner.
  • Ability to communicate ideas using intuitive, relatable, and clear messaging.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent communication between business and engineering teams.
  • Have a good understanding of associated web portal system concepts.
  • Perform analysis and identify root cause of associated web portal systems for business.
  • Translate business requirements to engineering concepts, such as user interface GUI requirements or feature function definitions.
  • Assist with Web portal development activities by coordinating feature development across various system components and communicating feature requirements to internal and external development resources.
  • Prepare user requirements and release documents for SQA validation.
  • Participate in design reviews and recommend improvements.
  • Attend team meetings to communicate project status and discuss open issues.
  • Feedback to the engineering team to share ideas and improve operation & support.
  • Improve quality of delivery while supporting quality standards requirements in line with company and customer goals.
