About The Position

Requirements

  • Must have a valid CDL - CLASS A driver's license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of driving experience preferred.
  • Over dimensional hauling experience preferred, but not required.
  • Experience securing various cargo such as fabricated steel and large weldments is preferred, but not required.
  • Flexibility to travel as needed.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to reason.
  • Hands-on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, etc.).
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations.
  • No recent moving or driving violations.
  • Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.).
  • Willing to submit to background/drug checks and provide past employment references.

Nice To Haves

  • Over dimensional hauling experience preferred, but not required.
  • Experience securing various cargo such as fabricated steel and large weldments is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Drive tractor/trailer to haul loads of fabricated steel to destination.
  • Verify load count of material.
  • Haul oversized loads.
  • Operate a variety of different hauling equipment such as standard flat beds, step deck and double drop load, and stretch trailers.
  • Review all routes, schedule, permits and BOL information to ensure accuracy and compliance with all laws and regulations.
  • Maintain all electronic logs and vehicle inspection reports.
  • Maintain telephone or radio contact with the supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
  • Perform emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tires, light bulbs, chains, spark plugs, etc.
  • Position blocks and secure cargo during transit.
  • Clean equipment when necessary.
  • Report any maintenance needs of vehicles and trailers to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Operate within DOT laws and regulations along with Canam Safety Policy.
  • Always maintain professional appearance when representing Canam.
  • Interact with customers, vendors and Canam staff professionally and courteously.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
