About The Position

Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects is currently seeking a full-time Engineer in Training to support our traffic engineering services at our Colorado Springs office. We are looking for someone with great communication skills who enjoys being part of a team environment. We are seeking a self-starter with a high attention to detail that wants to work in a professional setting advancing their career in traffic engineering. Additionally, you will collaborate with other disciplines, project managers and support staff, as well as our clients, to ensure the successful completion of tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related curriculum from an ABET accredited school and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • Strong work ethic and an understanding of engineering principles.
  • Experience with traffic analysis software (HCS, Synchro, VISSIM), GIS, and/or CADD (Autocad, Civil 3D, Microstation) is highly preferred.
  • Proven teamwork and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite products including Word and Excel.
  • Good intrapersonal skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate thoughts and ideas to peers, senior staff, and clients.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Autocad, InRoads/OpenRoads, Microstation software is highly preferred.
  • Experience with federal, state and local regulations that pertain to the design of street and/or highway projects is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct traffic design and traffic analysis tasks.
  • Provide design assistance producing roadway signing, pavement marking, and traffic signal designs.
  • Assist in developing technical traffic analysis for highways, streets, and multi-modal facilities utilizing multiple software and programs as necessary, including but not limited to, capacity and signal warrant analyses, interstate access requests, traffic simulations, and safety studies.
  • Assist in providing maintenance of traffic (MOT) and sequencing plans throughout the construction phase of a project.
  • Implement client and internal QA/QC procedures.
