About The Position

The Instructional Assistant (Physical Education) at Edwards Elementary School supports licensed teachers in delivering effective classroom instruction and maintaining a positive learning environment. This role involves a variety of paraprofessional duties, including assisting with student activities, maintaining discipline, and contributing to the overall educational experience of students, particularly in physical education settings.

Requirements

• High school graduation or equivalent (GED, foreign equivalency, etc.).
• Minimum of 48 credit hours from an accredited college or university or a passing score on the Educational Testing Service (ETS) ParaPro assessment.
• A valid driver's license or state-issued identification card.
• Current CPR/AED certificate from a recognized organization, maintained for the duration of the assignment.

• Foreign Language skills for Bilingual Programs.

Responsibilities

• Assists licensed teacher/professional in the instructional program by performing tasks such as taking attendance, monitoring student work groups, and correcting/collecting students' papers.
• Maintains discipline and encourages acceptable behavior among students.
• Types and duplicates bulletins, instructional materials, schedules, and reports.
• Assists with loading and unloading of buses to ensure students board the correct bus.
• Provides personal care and sanitary assistance to students as needed.
• Prepares, distributes, and administers snacks and special lunches to students.
• Operates a variety of office machines as required.
• Participates in physical education activities with students.
• Contributes to reports on student progress, behavior, and performance.
• Keeps records and administers medication to students per parent/guardian authorization.
• Assists students with daily assigned activities.
• Administers CPR/AED when necessary.
• Completes standard forms as required by the school district.
• Conforms to safety standards as prescribed.
• Performs other related tasks as assigned.
