About the position

The Terminal Manager provides overall management for the safe and efficient operation of two of our terminals, located in South Portland and Portland, Maine. Ensuring compliance with all federal, state, local and Sprague requirements. The Terminal Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of both terminals, ensuring efficient and safe handling of petroleum, bulk and other third-party cargoes. This role involves maintaining proper staffing levels, implementing aggressive safety and environmental compliance efforts, and ensuring that all products are handled correctly. The Terminal Manager will provide daily guidance and leadership to assigned personnel, focusing on employee training and development to foster a skilled and knowledgeable workforce. In addition to operational oversight, the Terminal Manager will develop, present, and implement plans for capital upgrade programs, process efficiency improvements, and terminal utilization enhancements. This includes creating clear and concise programs for personnel development, salary and wage administration, and expense budget control. The Terminal Manager will also support customer service initiatives and collaborate with other departments and Sprague Marketing Directors to meet company objectives. Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day overview for efficient terminal operations including proper staffing levels, aggressive safety and environmental compliance efforts, and ensuring correct product handling for petroleum, bulk and other third-party cargoes.
  • Provide daily guidance and leadership for assigned personnel through a staff of managers and supervisors, oversee employee training and development.
  • Develop, present and implement plans for capital upgrade programs, process efficiency improvements and terminal utilization improvements.
  • Develop and implement clear concise programs for personnel development, salary and wage administration, and expense budget control.
  • Support customer service programs and work cooperatively with other departments and Sprague Marketing Directors to ensure Company objectives are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Ten plus years' experience in facility management, operational engineering or related field.
  • Extensive experience in personnel management, project planning, strategy development and execution.
  • Ability to successfully implement safety, security and environmental programs within a structured compliance program.
  • Strong proven personnel management track record including ability to recruit quality personnel and oversee employee training and development.
  • Strong analytical, communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work in a safe manner and maintain a constant state of alertness.
