About The Position

The School of Science and Mathematics at Truman State University is seeking a full-time, nine-month Tenure-Track position in Computer Science, starting in August 2025. This role is aimed at candidates aspiring to teach high-ability undergraduates at a public liberal arts and sciences institution. The position offers opportunities for summer teaching and research mentoring, and emphasizes collaboration across disciplines.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree in computer science or a closely related field with substantial coursework or teaching experience in computer science is preferred.
• ABD candidates will be considered if they expect to complete their degree within a year of the start date.
• Candidates with a master's degree and at least ten years of relevant high-level independent and/or supervisory computer science experience in industry will also be considered.
• Candidates appointed at the Associate Professor rank must have achieved a similar/higher rank at another institution or have similar demonstrated experience.

Responsibilities

• Teach classes in computer science and related coursework supporting the liberal arts and sciences.
• Advise and mentor students, including supervising software development projects.
• Develop new courses and perform scholarly activity consistent with Truman's teacher-scholar model.
• Provide service to the department, university, and community.
• Engage in collaborative research and curricular experiences across programs.
