About The Position

The Inserter/Bindery Machine Operator at Susquehanna Printing Company is responsible for assisting with machine setup, material handling, product stacking, packaging, and distribution of printed products. This full-time position offers opportunities for skills advancement and requires a focus on safety and quality throughout the production process.

Requirements

  • Experience with machine types such as Muller Martini Alphaliner Inserter, Heidelberg Goss NP632 Inserter, and Muller Martini Saddle Stitchers is preferred.
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience operating and maintaining stacking, inserting, and binding equipment.
  • Strong adaptability, flexibility, attention to detail, and focus on quality are essential.
  • Good attendance record is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret related paperwork is necessary.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment with minimal supervision is important.
  • Must be reliable and able to reach the office in all weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Quipp 500 series and Gammerler stackers is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a continual focus on safety and injury prevention for self and co-workers.
  • Set up and run various jobs on the proper machines according to customer specifications.
  • Retrieve production materials and place them in appropriate locations using material moving equipment.
  • Jog and feed pre-printed materials into machine feed hoppers as needed.
  • Complete paperwork, setup, operate stackers, and stack bundles of printed products off press.
  • Build skids of product evenly and accurately according to required quantities.
  • Load newspaper bundles into carts accurately by zone, maintaining continuous product flow.
  • Wrap finished product using an automated stretch wrap machine.
  • Operate and perform preventative maintenance of post-press equipment.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure products are complete, accurate, and defect-free.
  • Keep equipment and work area clean.
  • Adapt to production operations and schedule changes as needed.
  • Identify problems and craft creative solutions while communicating issues to management.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve high outcomes for customers.
