About The Position

The Support Care Assistant at Northwest Missouri Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center (NMPRC) plays a crucial role in assisting patients with daily living activities in a forensic inpatient psychiatric hospital. This position focuses on providing compassionate care to individuals with mental illness, ensuring a safe and healing environment while promoting health equity and well-being.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid Driver's License or State issued ID is necessary.
• 0-1 year of related experience preferred.
• Knowledge of general care and treatment of patients, including basic nursing and first aid.

• Ability to work with patients with physical or mental illness, developmental disabilities, and the geriatric population.
• Ability to perform first aid and emergency treatments as instructed.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to adapt to changes in assignments and policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, toileting, and ambulation.
• Establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with patients, co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
• Perform environmental rounds as assigned and document findings accurately.
• Provide first aid and perform emergency treatment as required.
• Demonstrate the ability to care for and interact with mentally ill patients, considering their developmental stages and forensic issues.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and agreeable work environment.
