About The Position

This position is located within the Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Office of the Assistant Administrator (OAA) with one vacancy located in Silver Spring, MD. As a Supervisory Fishery Policy Analyst, you will provide expert advice and strategic direction to NOAA Fisheries leadership related to the development of national ocean resource and habitat policies and regulations. You will conduct and oversee development of in-depth technical analyses of the impact of existing or proposed regulatory and policy alternatives, and serve as a senior NOAA representative in stakeholder meetings and interagency policy forums.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be U.S. Citizens.
  • Suitable for Federal employment, as determined by background investigation.
  • Selectee may be subject to serving a one-year probationary period.
  • Must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.

  • Experience representing the federal government in policy forums related to environmental statutes.
  • Experience analyzing programmatic and policy impacts of agency regulations and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice and strategic direction to NOAA Fisheries leadership related to the development of national ocean resource and habitat policies and regulations.
  • Conduct and oversee development of in-depth technical analyses of the impact of existing or proposed regulatory and policy alternatives.
  • Review technical analyses conducted by others to assist in the development of national and regional ocean resource and habitat policy and regulations affecting significant activities.
  • Identify potential controversial policy and regulatory issues and develop recommendations for action.
  • Serve as a senior NOAA representative in stakeholder meetings and interagency policy forums.
