Responsibilities

  • Review and develop protective relay settings for protection of substation equipment, transmission lines and distribution lines.
  • Review, update and develop electrical drawings (AutoCAD & PDF) for power substation projects of varying complexity (AC schematics, DC schematics and wiring diagrams).
  • Lead and organize data for compliance tasks on a regular basis.
  • Work in a team atmosphere to develop project scopes that will be used to direct internal and/or external resources.
  • Develop technical specifications and work with vendors and contractors to obtain quotes.
  • Build relationships with internal and external resources.
  • Inspect construction work in progress to determine whether proper materials and workmanship are used and compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Prepare engineering analyses of some difficulty and prepare specifications, process studies, research investigations, and reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field, from an ABET accredited educational institution.
  • At least 4 years' experience as an engineer with emphasis on protection and controls associated with power substations.
  • Valid Florida Class E Driver's License required.
  • Professional Engineer license preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited educational institution and three (3) years of experience in the area of assigned engineering responsibility.
  • Valid State of Florida 'Engineering Intern' license may be required for Water/Waste Water, Public Works or special project areas.
