This position is part of the Pathways Internship Program, which is designed to provide students with valuable work experience in a federal agency. To qualify for this position, applicants must demonstrate sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties associated with the specific role. This includes both paid and unpaid experiences, such as volunteer work through National Service programs like the Peace Corps or AmeriCorps, as well as other professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, or social organizations. Applicants must clearly outline their duties and responsibilities in each position held, including the total number of hours worked per week. For those using education to meet qualification requirements, transcripts or an itemized list of college courses must be submitted with the application. Basic requirements for eligibility under the Pathways Internship Program include being accepted for enrollment or currently enrolled in a qualifying educational institution on a half- to full-time basis, meeting the definition of a student throughout the duration of the appointment, and fulfilling agency-specific requirements as outlined in the Participant Agreement. Minimum qualifications vary by grade level: GS-3 requires completion of one full academic year of post-high school study; GS-4 requires two full academic years or an associate's degree; GS-5 requires four academic years leading to a bachelor's degree or an equivalent degree. Interns may be converted to a term, career-conditional, or career appointment within 120 days after successfully completing their educational and work experience requirements.
