About The Position

The University of Hawai'i is seeking applicants for a Casual Hire position as a Student Services Specialist. This role involves providing customer service and administrative support for the Office of Student Affairs, assisting students with admission, retention, and graduation processes. The position is temporary, lasting up to 89 days for full-time employees and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees. Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits provided to regular employees.

Requirements

  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Education, Business Administration, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Liberal Arts or related field.
  • 0 years of progressively responsible professional experience in student services or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve problems using creative reasoning and logic.
  • Ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply office software, including word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to work beyond normal work hours, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Provides customer service and administrative support for the Office of Student Affairs, assisting students and constituents with admission, retention, and graduation.
  • Collaborates with university offices to ensure adherence and compliance with UH Manoa- and JABSOM-wide deadlines, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains student records, applicable reports, databases, directory and listserv for all medical students.
  • Supports medical students with registration, electives, grades, and other institutional endeavors.
  • Assists new medical students on matriculation/orientation procedures and requirements.
  • Coordinates with University Health Partners to ensure compliance with immunization requirements.
  • Conducts information sessions for incoming and graduating students regarding school-wide events.
  • Serves as support staff for various institutional events, which may require working beyond normal business hours.
  • Assists as administrative coordinator for remediation, student standing, and appeals committees.
  • Generates official letters for students required from various programs and clinical sites.
