About The Position

The Stormwater Technician position involves performing a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled labor related to the construction, maintenance, and operation of the City's storm drainage system. The role requires independence, self-initiation, and program knowledge, with responsibilities including inspecting work and analyzing illicit stormwater discharge sources. The technician works under the general direction of the Streets/Landfill/Storm Drain Superintendent and directly with the Storm Drain Inspector.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Five to eight years of experience in environmental permitting, stormwater drainage, and stormwater management, or facility construction.
  • Valid State of Utah Commercial Driver's License with no significant violations or restrictions.
  • Ability to obtain Traffic Control Flagger, Trench Shoring, and Confined Space certificates within 6 months of employment.
  • SWPPP Certification preferred, or ability to obtain within one year of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in NPDES and MS-4 reporting is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform semi-skilled and unskilled labor in the construction, maintenance, and operation of the storm drainage system.
  • Inspect work in various stages of completion.
  • Analyze sources of illicit stormwater discharge.
  • Work under the general direction of the Streets/Landfill/Storm Drain Superintendent and direct supervision of the Storm Drain Inspector.

  • Competitive hourly wage ranging from $21.22 to $35.28 based on experience and qualifications.
  • Full-time schedule with 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
  • On-call availability for weekends and holidays as needed.
