About the position
Checkr is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their innovation program, Checkr X, which focuses on developing new product bets for the company. The team is specifically working on People infrastructure for the future of work, beyond background checks. The role offers the opportunity to work within a startup environment and contribute to the development of Checkr Pay, a full-service payments platform for the gig economy. The platform aims to provide instant payment to gig workers and improve financial inclusion for the unbanked and underbanked. The company is experiencing rapid growth and is looking for someone to help scale their product for the future of the gig economy.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with founders and early adopters to design and implement new products
- Bring a customer-centric, product-first mindset to resolve product ambiguities and ship impactful features
- Have an experimentation mindset to validate customer needs, get team buy-in, and ship rapid MVPs
- Develop new end-to-end web and mobile applications
- Build new industry-leading APIs
- Instrument and deploy new product experiments
- Leverage the Checkr ecosystem (systems, data) to accelerate development of new concepts
Requirements
- 7+ years of full stack software development experience
- Advanced knowledge in Javascript and React (or similar languages/frameworks)
- Mobile development experience with cross-platform frameworks
- Some good product sense
- A strong sense of ownership from feature design through production release
- Understanding of staged rollouts and what’s needed for MVPs
- Ability to work directly with non-technical stakeholders
- Willingness to dedicate a fair amount of time supporting customers
- Experience building scalable technical architecture
- Experience with building security-first products
- Willingness to mentor junior engineers
