Sr. Process Engineer (Temporary)

Solid Power is seeking a Sr. Process Engineer to join their team and play a key role in revolutionizing the battery industry through the development of next-generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries. The main responsibilities of this position include developing and maturing Solid Power cell electrode processing equipment, techniques, and procedures. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing and constructing manufacturing space, particularly in the lithium-ion battery industry. They will also need knowledge of key processes and experience handling hazardous materials. This position will be involved in executing cell pilot and production operations and will collaborate with various teams to install and improve processing technology.

• Develop and mature Solid Power cell electrode processing equipment, processing techniques, and procedures
• Design and construct new or improved manufacturing space
• Handle powder and coated materials, fluid transport, fluid mixing, and hazardous and flammable materials
• Execute cell pilot and production operations
• Install, commission, and improve processing technology for Solid Power's solid state battery technology
• Collaborate with product design groups, engineering functions, automation group, and equipment vendors to design and install lithium ion cell processing equipment
• Implement on-line/off-line test methodologies for development and production control
• Utilize 6 sigma techniques for process improvements
• Collaborate with future customers to transfer Solid Power cell manufacturing technology
• Develop new processes to support product development
• Collaborate with leaders in other departments to meet customer deliverables
• Archive technical documentation using the company's document and change control system
• Document new capabilities with detailed SOPs and work instructions

• Direct experience with the design and construction of new or improved manufacturing space
• Experience in the lithium ion battery industry is a plus
• Knowledge of key processes like powder and coated materials handling, fluid transport, and fluid mixing
• Experience handling hazardous and flammable materials
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work with product design groups, engineering functions, automation group, and equipment vendors
• Familiarity with 6 sigma techniques for process improvement
• Experience in implementing on-line/off-line test methodologies for development and production control
• Ability to collaborate with future customers for smooth transfer of manufacturing technology
• Ability to develop new/novel processes to support product development
• Familiarity with document and change control systems for technical documentation archiving
• Ability to document new capabilities with detailed SOPs and work instructions
