About The Position

The Sr. Instructor Nuclear Incident & Accident/Response at Watermark is responsible for providing expert instruction on nuclear weapons incident and accident response. This role involves developing and delivering training programs, mentoring other instructors, and evaluating and improving existing curricula. The instructor will utilize various instructional methods, including in-residence and distance learning, to ensure comprehensive training for U.S. Government workforce members. The position requires a deep understanding of nuclear weapons safety and emergency management, along with strong communication skills to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences.

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge and thorough understanding of nuclear weapons accidents.
  • Demonstrated skill in instructional design, needs assessments, design analysis, training, presentation, and principles of instruction.
  • 10-plus years DoD/DOE experience with at least 3 years in a nuclear incident/accident related field.
  • Instructional experience in nuclear weapons security, emergency management, CWMD planning, and consequence management planning.
  • Ability to lift 25/50/70 pounds regularly and during incident exercises.
  • Ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions while wearing protective clothing.
  • Ability to climb structures greater than or equal to 4 feet.
  • Experience with MS Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop presentations and brief senior leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct nuclear weapons incident/accident response via in-residence instruction, Mobile Training Team, and/or field training.
  • Provide mentoring on instructional techniques and course management.
  • Evaluate current curriculum and identify the need for new or improved curriculum.
  • Plan, develop, coordinate, and teach new or existing DNWS curriculum, both within and outside DTRA.
  • Effectively utilize instructional modes including In-Resident (IR), Distant Learning (DL), field training, and Mobile Training Teams (MTT).
  • Review curricula and programs for accuracy, completeness, currency, and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Develop new curricula as needed and research subject matter expertise available in the Military Services and civilian communities.
  • Assess commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) technology and its application to instruction.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge base of CWMD and CBRNE information.
  • Operate as the subject matter expert on various computer models for WMD consequence prediction and assessment.
  • Develop IR and DL courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels in support of the DNWS program.
  • Complete planning, developing, evaluating, revising, and conducting courses, and advising other instructors on nuclear weapons instructional matters.
  • Conduct research in relevant areas and provide subject matter expert advice to instructor cadre.
  • Effectively communicate to senior leadership through briefings, presentations, and written/verbal correspondence.
  • Transport students and/or move equipment in preparation for training courses.
