As a Sr Avionics Test Engineer at Reliable Robotics, you will be a part of the avionics engineering team. The avionics team is the group responsible for designing, selecting, verifying, integrating, and certifying avionics and electrical components and systems to automate unmanned aircraft under stringent civil aviation standards. The Sr Avionics Test Engineer role will focus on verifying development and flight hardware including products such as computers, remote data concentrators, and aircraft electrical systems that support the mission to automate aircraft.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of full cycle electronics hardware test or development experience in a professional environment.
  • Extensive experience with test equipment, measurement techniques, and processes for hardware verification.
  • Familiarity with programming/scripting languages (C, C++, Python).
  • Ability to methodically diagnose, document, and solve electronic hardware problems.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering.
  • Familiarity with formal industry test standards such as RTCA DO-160, MIL-STD-461/810, or similar.
  • Experience developing and simulating complex and manufacturable printed circuit board assemblies using tools such as Altium Designer and SPICE.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a leader of a high performing team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy automated test solutions for complex avionics hardware ranging from early prototype designs through formal equipment qualification campaigns.
  • Design test benches and procedures to execute tests for applications ranging from circuit debugging up to system level verification.
  • Coordinate with vendors, equipment, and engineers across multiple disciplines to facilitate successful verification campaigns.
  • Track hardware issues, drive root cause and corrective action campaigns, and drive continuous improvement of electrical test infrastructure.
