About The Position

The Dental Assistant at Sunrise Community Health plays a crucial role in supporting dentists during patient examinations and treatments. This position involves preparing patients for procedures, taking x-rays, and managing dental equipment, all while ensuring a compassionate and customer-first approach to patient care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Graduate of a Dental Assistant Program or Associates (A.A.) Degree from a Community College or technical school.
  • 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for dental treatment procedures by welcoming, comforting, and seating them.
  • Sterilize, disinfect, and deliver instruments to the treatment area.
  • Set up instrument trays and position instruments for the Dentist's access.
  • Select, mix, and place materials on instruments and in the patient's mouth.
  • Assist the dentist during dental procedures.
  • Provide proper triage for patients.
  • Take and record medical and dental histories and vital signs of patients.
  • Assist the Dentist in managing medical and dental emergencies.
  • Educate patients in oral hygiene and plaque control.
  • Provide postoperative instructions as prescribed by the Dentist.
  • Record treatment information in patient records.
  • Document dental care services by charting pertinent information in EHR.
  • Assist patients in scheduling appointments, follow-up care, referrals, and medication refills.
  • Clean and stock exam rooms to maintain par levels.
  • Maintain dental supplies inventory by checking stock and placing orders for supplies.
  • Expose and develop dental x-rays to provide diagnostic information.
  • Fabricate temporary restorations or custom impressions from preliminary impressions.
  • Assist the team to maintain proper clinic flow.
  • Participate in collaborative measures and follow policy for standing orders.
