Comcast is looking for a talented and dedicated Software engineer in RDK triage Engineering team to support the release cycles associated with deployed software on CPE devices. These devices use Comcast's Reference Design Kit (RDK), which is deployed at Comcast on over 100+ million devices spanning video, broadband and home security. The CPE Software Engineer function is critical to the successful development and deployment of new features and fixes as the function ensures that these changes get deployed to the field. Comcast's development environment is advanced and highly integrated. It uses industry-standard tools that are combined effectively to support a fast-moving, agile development cycle. The combination of these tools running on cloud infrastructure, coupled with effective use of Open-Source code, allows Comcast to deliver features and products against aggressive timelines.

  • Drive on-time, high-quality releases across a large number of devices.
  • Responsible for complete release quality and triage lifecycle including deployment, triage, mitigation, and tool development for software release operations.
  • Collaborate daily with Development and QA teams.
  • Assess and ensure the release quality of the RDK software with key performance metrics and incidents from the field.
  • Identify new tools and processes necessary to improve the software release triage engineering process.
  • Manage risks and resolve issues affecting release scope, schedule, and quality.
  • Ensure timely and high-quality software releases through proactive monitoring of metrics and alerting.
  • Troubleshoot problems in entertainment devices across various components.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues using Linux systems and networking protocols.
  • Develop anomaly detection techniques and data-driven solutions.
  • Conduct deep-dive analysis of RDK middleware issues.
  • Design and enhance operational tools to improve system performance.
  • Analyze data from millions of field devices to provide insights.
  • Utilize AWS technologies for data management and visualization.
  • Architect and implement DevOps solutions for operational improvement.
  • Respond immediately to critical field issues and mitigate them.
  • Lead teams, mentor colleagues, and communicate technical insights effectively.
  • 5+ years of C/C++ and Linux experience.
  • Experience with defect tracking tools such as Jira.
  • Familiarity with SCM tools - Git & GitHub.
  • 2+ years of experience as a technical lead and mentoring a small team of engineers.
  • 3+ years of experience with log management and analysis tools such as Elastic Stack (ELK), Splunk, and Grafana.
  • Experience with one scripting language such as BASH, Go, or Python.
  • Embedded Systems experience.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or other cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience with monitoring systems (i.e. Datadog, CloudWatch, etc.).
  • Familiarity with continuous integration/deployment processes and tools such as Jenkins, Concourse.
  • Knowledge and experience in Set-top boxes, Broadband Gateways, Networking or Home Security domain.
