About the position
This role is for a Software Engineer at Helix's new site in Mexico City. The engineer will be part of a founding team and will have the opportunity to apply their software experience to impact health outcomes and advance genomic health. The engineer will be responsible for designing and coding software systems, collaborating with various teams, owning deliverables, and deploying and operating software for users and health systems. The role requires proficiency in Go, Python, Java, or similar languages, as well as experience with distributed systems and cloud infrastructure. Fluency in English and willingness to work onsite in Mexico City are also required.
Responsibilities
- Design and code software systems for genomic applications and services
- Collaborate with product managers, bioinformaticians, scientists, and other engineers
- Own deliverables from ideation to production operationalization
- Deploy and operate software with reliability and scale for users and health systems
Requirements
- 3+ years development experience in Go, Python, Java, Javascript, or similar
- Proficiency with distributed systems built on cloud infrastructure — AWS or similar
- Affinity for an engineering culture that emphasizes agile, DevOps, and continuous delivery
- Proven track record of successful project deliveries
- Willing to work onsite in Mexico City for at least three days each week
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal
- BS+ in Computer Science; coursework in genetics or bioinformatics (a plus)
- Familiarity with regulated software systems and entities (a plus)
