Razorfish has an immediate need for a freelance Social Content & Engagement Strategist to start ASAP and work on a 6+ month engagement for one of the largest entertainment and media brands. Freelancers will be considered for conversion to fulltime based on performance and budget. As a Social Content & Engagement Strategist at Razorfish, you will be joining our 80+ person social discipline within our fast-growing Consumer & Content Experience practice. In this role, you will be embedded on-site with our client, a large entertainment brand - working alongside a team of over 25 people who manage organic social marketing for the brand and all its shows. As a social content publisher on the team, you will be fostering and growing a vibrant online community of millions of deeply engaged fans for all the client's 9+ social channels across Meta Platforms, TikTok, YouTube and X. This crucial position is responsible for translating programming priorities into platform-native creative ideas—particularly social-first content and talent-driven video that fuels awareness, fandom, and engagement. You'll work closely with show marketing leads, editorial, creative production, and talent teams to develop breakthrough social content strategies that elevate new and returning programming across scripted series, unscripted originals, documentaries, and live events.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of experience in brand or social marketing, ideally in entertainment or media - in house at a well-known brand or with a well-known agency.
  • Proven ability to lead campaign development and social-first creative thinking.
  • Experience concepting and executing talent content in partnership with production teams and show marketers.
  • Strong understanding of how content works differently across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, and X.
  • Strategic thinker with a creative POV, trend fluency, and a passion for fandom, storytelling, and culture.
  • Familiarity using social media publishing and analytics tools such as ListenFirst, Sprout, Sprinklr, Monday.com, Airtable, Asana, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with talent management workflows and on-set production constraints.
  • A background in social creative development or agency-side strategy.
  • Comfort working across multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead social creative strategy across an entertainment platform and brand platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, X) with a focus on storytelling that builds buzz and fan retention.
  • Develop, produce and execute original, on-brand social content from zero-to-one, from concept through post-production & flight.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to translate ideas into compelling posts, content series, or larger creative executions.
  • Maintain a consistent brand voice and tone while tailoring content messaging to channel-specific best practices.
  • Ideate and oversee the development of talent-driven social video content, ensuring alignment with show tone, audience trends, and talent comfort.
  • Partner with publishing and production teams to develop scalable content formats, launch moments, reactive campaigns, and fan-first creative.
  • Contribute to the social brief process for brand-led initiatives and priority title campaigns—developing and presenting strategy, competitive insights, tone guides, and content rationale.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including Marketing, Talent Relations, Programming, Innovation, and Platform to ensure cohesive messaging across touchpoints.
  • Plan and oversee content calendars and creative direction for multiple shows and movies across all platforms to ensure consistent engagement and visibility.
  • Review and approve all social assets and post copy, ensuring 100% accuracy prior to publishing.
  • Assist in launching new social handles and growing current ones.
  • Light community management, interacting with audiences across social accounts, identifying opportunities for cross-pollination of community engagement tactics.
  • Contribute to organic social promotion strategies for campaigns, cultural moments and more, specific to target audiences and respective platforms.
  • Be aware and accountable for engagement/growth goals, campaign performance, content reach and optimization strategies.
  • Identify creative opportunities to leverage talent and partners to create moments that will excite and engage our fans and subscribers.
  • Pitch innovative ideas for expanding social promotions across emerging platforms.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule, including availability for occasional nights and weekends to support various initiatives.
