As a SkillBridge Cybersecurity Intern with AMERICAN SYSTEMS you will have the opportunity to conduct periodic system assessments to ensure compliance with system authorization, review & maintain RMF certification & accreditation packages, and conduct security assessments. You will design, develop, and implement appropriate security controls, assess the effectiveness of security controls, and update existing security controls. Additionally, you will install, administer, and troubleshoot network security solutions, configure & support security tools such as firewalls & anti-virus software, and update software with the latest security patches. Your role will also involve performing vulnerability scans, enforcing remediation actions, and conducting security analyses of operational & developmental environments, threats, vulnerabilities, & internal interfaces. You will plan, implement, upgrade, & monitor security measures, employ log monitoring, network traffic analysis, and implement IDS & IPS. Timely detection, identification, & alert of possible attacks/intrusions, anomalous activities, and misuse activities will be part of your responsibilities, as well as operating Security Information & Event Management (SIEM) technology to collect & analyze log & event data. You will respond to security incidents, including computer security breaches & viruses, and apply cyber threat intelligence to address malware threats, phishing campaigns, & APTs.

  • Must be eligible to participate in a SkillBridge program.
  • Must have 180 days of military service or fewer remaining prior to your date of discharge and have at least 180 continuous days of active military service.
  • Must have approval from your unit commander to participate in a SkillBridge program.
  • Top Secret/SCI Clearance required.
