About the position

HRL is seeking an experienced Windows Systems Administrator to join the Special Programs IT team in Malibu, CA. The successful candidate will collaborate with other systems administrators located in Malibu and at various locations throughout the United States. A willingness to continue learning new technologies is a must. An active Top Secret/SCI clearance and experience in classified programs is required.

Responsibilities

  • Work with multi-disciplined team members under general supervision
  • Provide a friendly and professional point of contact for customers
  • Perform independent troubleshooting of complex incidents
  • Perform a multi-disciplined range of technical system and application activities
  • Install, configure, and maintain multiplatform systems hardware, software, and components
  • Administer and manage Windows and Linux systems in the operations, engineering, analysis, and test environments
  • Administer installation of software, hardware, file system management, backups, process control, user administration, and device management
  • Resolve a wide variety of complex system failures, troubleshooting software, hardware, and network problems
  • Perform system and user account maintenance
  • Test and assess security configuration of Windows servers
  • Monitor, evaluate, and optimize system performance
  • Analyze, test, and implement security patches and hardening
  • Document maintenance & ticketing actions
  • Develop and promote standard operating procedures and conduct routine hardware and software audits of servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines
  • If required, assist in IT security incident response and documentation

Requirements

  • Experience in Windows systems administration
  • Understanding of multiplatform system hardening (e.g., DISA STIG, SCAP)
  • Strong understanding of VMware vSphere virtual environments
  • Experience with scripting for task automation (e.g., PowerShell, Batch, BASH)
  • Proficient knowledge of cyber security technology and trends (e.g., Tenable, McAfee, Splunk)
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (e.g., switching, routing, firewalls, load balancing)
  • Experience with system monitoring & alerting tools (e.g., Nagios)
  • Experience working within an accredited system
  • Ability to work independently
  • A current Top Secret/SCI security clearance with Full Scope Polygraph is required

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum 7 year of experience in a related role
  • Experience in multiplatform systems administration (Windows and Linux) is desired
  • Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 configuration, management, and troubleshooting
  • Understanding of Group Policy management
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (8, 9)
  • Some experience with SAN management (e.g., NetApp, Dell Unity, HPE GreenLake)
  • Experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (i.e., Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops)
  • Exchange Server 2019 configuration, management, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with systems management and automation software e.g., (Endpoint Configuration Manager, Satellite, Ansible, Systems Center Orchestrator)
  • Experience in multiplatform environments (Windows and Linux)
  • Experience with High Performance Computing

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $109,695 - $137,145 + bonus + benefits
  • Salary determined by role, level, and location
  • Individual pay based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training
