Senior Software Engineer, Tax Platform

This role is on the Tax Platform team at Carta, a platform that helps people manage equity, build businesses, and invest in the companies of tomorrow. The Tax Platform team is responsible for ensuring IRS compliance, meeting obligations to the SEC and FINRA, and accurate tax withholding calculations for transactions on Carta. The successful candidate will have 5+ years of full-stack experience building production systems and will be passionate about the tech stack used at Carta. They will also be a strong communicator and have a desire to become a product domain expert. This role offers the opportunity to work on a product that will fundamentally change the way private companies view Taxes on Equity.

• Manage IRS compliance for clients, including forms 1099-B, 3921, and 3922
• Ensure accuracy of tax withholding calculations for transactions on Carta, from private transactions to public stock sales
• Meet obligations to the SEC and FINRA
• Architect complex SaaS products with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and/or event driven architecture
• Build production systems with 5+ years of full-stack experience
• Refine ambiguous product requirements to deliver customer value
• Communicate with different stakeholders effectively
• Have a strong analytical opinion and position on software engineering
• Move fast while also considering future development
• Work on a product that will change the way private companies view Taxes on Equity

• 5+ years of full-stack experience building production systems
• Experience in architecting complex SaaS products with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and/or event driven architecture
• Passionate about some elements of the tech stack (Python, Django, React, TypeScript, Kafka, K8s, Docker, AWS, gRPC)
• Desire to become a product domain expert and able to refine ambiguous product requirements
• Strong communicator who can interact with different stakeholders
• Active participant with a strong analytical opinion on software engineering
• Eager to move fast, but also able to build for the future
