Senior Software Engineer - Core Products

Meltano is seeking a software engineer or data engineer with strong programming and leadership experience to join their all-remote team. The role involves working on Meltano and developing engineering strategies, engaging with the open source community, designing and maintaining reusable design patterns, and providing code reviews. Proficiency in Python, CI/CD technologies, and command line usage is required. Bonus qualifications include experience with infrastructure development, knowledge of data protocols, and understanding of data engineering challenges. Remote working experience is a plus.

• Work on Meltano and develop engineering strategies based on target goals.
• Propose specification improvements in the open source community and engage with other community proposals.
• Design, build, and maintain reusable design patterns in the community-facing SDK for Singer Taps and Targets.
• Collaborate cross-functionally on projects.
• Review community contributions and provide thorough code reviews.
• Participate in on-call rotations with the engineering team.
• Have 3+ years of experience as a software engineer or similar experience in data engineering with strong programming and leadership skills.
• Proficient in CI/CD technologies such as GitHub Actions, Gitlab CI, or similar.
• Expert-level knowledge of Python and Python testing practices.
• Proficient in writing unit and integration tests.
• Familiarity with community open source projects.
• Proficient in using the command line.
• Ability to work with US time zones.
• Bonus qualifications include the ability to develop and maintain infrastructure via Pulumi and other IAC tools, experience with Meltano or similar data protocols, a solid understanding of challenges in data engineering, big data, ML, and/or data warehousing, and remote working experience.

• 3+ years' experience as a software engineer, or similar experience in data engineering with strong programming and leadership experience
