About The Position

The Senior Research Technician at Northeastern University will oversee the operations of the Brain Game Center for Mental Fitness and Well-Being, focusing on cognitive processes research with diverse populations. This role requires strong leadership, project management, and interpersonal skills, as the technician will collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including PIs, students, and community partners. The position involves managing lab operations, ensuring compliance with protocols, and fostering an inclusive environment.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Psychology, Cognitive Science, Neuroscience, Education, or related technical field.
  • 1-2 years of related project management experience in an academic or professional research lab, with a strong background in managing complex research projects.
  • 1-2 years of proven experience in leading teams, managing staff, and coordinating projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with IRB procedures and clinical trial protocols.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Exceptional time management and solution-focused problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail in maintaining accurate and comprehensive records of research data.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed, including occasional weekend hours, and to travel off-site for recruitment events.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all operations of the lab's research studies including adherence to IRB protocols, clinical trials, study material and protocol development, management and training of lab members, data collection, and participant recruitment.
  • Oversee procurement, inventory, and maintenance of lab equipment and office supplies; coordinate activities related to lab and office space; coordinate with financial department and IT on equipment orders and updates as needed.
  • Support the PIs with grant submissions, progress reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Assist in managing a large, multidisciplinary team of researchers and software developers, identifying opportunities to improve internal lab processes and implementing solutions to enhance productivity.
  • Provide support to students, clients, and collaborators, including developing training materials and providing consultations on complex procedures.
