About the position
We are seeking an experienced Senior Research Associate to join our pre-clinical research team at Metagenomi. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating novel genome editing systems for in vivo therapeutics. Your main focus will be on supporting the design and execution of assays to advance and validate a gene editing therapeutic program, as well as contributing to the characterization of a therapeutic target and the effects of gene editing in cells and animal models. The successful candidate will have experience with cell line maintenance, cell and molecular assays, and genome editing techniques. Responsibilities
- Culture diverse types of cells ranging from primary human cells to mouse and cyno cell lines.
- Perform genome-editing experiments by transfecting cells using various methods.
- Purify DNA, RNA, and protein from cultured cells and animal samples.
- Routinely assess genome-editing by performing molecular analysis of DNA and RNA (qPCR, ddPCR, NGS), and protein samples (Western blot, ELISA, activity assays).
- Prepare accurate and timely data summaries and contribute to the writing of reports.
- Generate and analyze experimental data under the direction of an Associate Director and present this data in team and departmental meetings.
- Collaborate with research and other functions to optimize and advance assays and experiments to validate and analyze results and advance therapies.
Requirements
- BS or MS in biology, biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, or a related discipline
- At least four years of relevant research laboratory experience in either academia or industry applying molecular biology skill sets
- Hands-on experience with culture of mammalian cell lines, primary cells and iPSCs
- Hands-on experience in microscopy and imaging, gene expression assays (ddPCR, qPCR, RNAseq), as well as western blotting and ELISA
- Experience with genome editing techniques and analysis is a plus
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Extremely organized and able to efficiently manage your time and workflow, including skillfully prioritizing both long-term projects and day-to-day responsibilities
