Under limited supervision, responsible for relationship management and proactive retention of assigned qualified retirement plans & plan participant accounts. Responsible for the growth of assets through deep selling to executives and plan participants, account retention, employee education, retirement plan design knowledge, problem solving and proactive service to deepen relationships across all business lines of Associated Bank.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Business, Finance or Accounting.
  • 7+ years Retirement plan relationship management. Retirement plan employee education, relationship management retention and deep selling success.
  • 7+ years Knowledge of other bank business line products and success in identifying client needs and making referral to other bank products to address those needs. Demonstrated relationship management and client retention success within the financial services/trust industry. Compliance with, and understanding of, regulatory requirements.
  • 7+ years Business development skills and proven success in generating additional business from existing client base. Demonstrated success in generating additional business from existing clients base and creating and developing both internal and external referral network.

Responsibilities

  • Advise and consult with the business line's larger and more complex corporate clients concerning the design and administration of qualified and non-qualified retirement plans to assure customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Responsively consult with plan participants on higher-order inquiries and needs in order to achieve long-term savings goals (savings rate, asset allocation), and to satisfy shorter-term financial needs (plan loans, hardship withdrawals).
  • Conduct employee education programs, such as group education meetings and one-on-one account consultations.
  • Profile existing customer base for additional financial service needs, including both plan sponsors and plan participants, and pro-actively solicit additional services, either through direct sales efforts or through referrals to internal partners within and/or outside of Private Client and Institutional Services.
  • Actively mentor Relationship Managers, Retirement Plan Specialists, and other colleagues. Potentially supervise the activities and development of assigned Retirement Plan Specialist to assure customer satisfaction standards are met.
  • Participate in specific sales proposals and RFP responses to secure new RPS relationships for ATC. Once secured, work with internal Retirement Plan Services Support (RPSS) staff to ensure proper account setup and effective conversion of the plan to ATC.
  • Assure compliance with internal ATC account administrative procedures, as well as external regulatory agencies, including plan document compliance, 5500 reporting, etc.
  • Research and keep informed of new developments and laws related to qualified plans, non-qualified plans, IRAs, etc. Participate in efforts to educate other Retirement Plan Services' colleagues on technical topics.
  • Participate in community and business functions/groups to ensure a positive image for the bank within the region's marketplace. Establish referral contacts within the community.
