About The Position

The Senior Field Service Engineer at ABB is responsible for executing service work of medium to high complexity, ensuring customer satisfaction and retention through superior service delivery. This role involves identifying new service business opportunities, coaching technicians, and supervising complex site activities, all while adhering to ABB guidelines and work instructions. The position is remote and contributes to the Electrification Service division in the Midwest.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of 10 additional years of related engineering/field experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of field engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision, with strong business acumen.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 75% as required.
  • Possess and maintain a valid passport and driver's license.
  • Knowledge of industrial customer base in geographical area preferred.
  • Technical skills in testing of power distribution and delivery including Low Voltage and Medium Voltage Breakers, Switchgear, Relays, and Transformers.
  • Experience in the repair and refurbishment of LV and MV circuit breakers (OEM equipment such as Siemens, GE, ABB, Square D, Multilin relays, and Switzer Relays) preferred.
  • Technical skills in testing, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting of medium voltage synchronous machines, controls systems, and Programmable Logic controllers.

Responsibilities

  • Contributing to customer satisfaction by planning and executing service work as per customer order and expectations.
  • Ensuring customer retention by delivering superior customer experience and effectively communicating service work timeline and expectations.
  • Taking actions to identify new service business opportunities for ABB, in close cooperation with customer and other ABB teams.
  • Coaching technicians and engineers and supervising complex site activities.
