About the position
We are seeking an Engineering Manager to join our team and contribute to our culture of kindness, empathy, and product-mindedness. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing product engineering for Eleanor's care coordination platform, as well as managing a team of passionate and mission-driven product engineers. You will collaborate with leaders across the company to ensure that the team is working on high-impact projects and contribute to the technical direction of the team. This is a player-coach role that requires hands-on technical expertise and reporting to the CTO.
Responsibilities
- Manage, lead, and grow a team of fullstack software engineers working across Eleanor’s products and services
- Collaborate with product managers, clinicians, marketers, and other cross-functional partners to plan roadmaps and initiatives
- Partner with technical team leads in shaping and guiding the technical direction for your team
- Drive continuous improvement in development best practices, quality, and process
- Participate in code reviews, lead technical discussions, and contribute code
- Manage team resourcing needs, growth, recruiting plans, and goals
- Own your team’s software and infrastructure from design to production including 3rd-party integrations and relationships
- Engage with the technical & healthcare communities as a core member of Eleanor’s technical team
- Develop world-class engineers and teams into high-performing engineering teams
- Translate business and product goals into impactful engineering goals and priorities
- Address changing needs quickly and unblock teams
- Stay up to date on current technology trends and incorporate modern engineering and tech best practices
- Use agile methodologies, pair programming, Domain Driven Design, CI/CD, and writing tests to ship high quality software
- Have a strong sense of personal accountability and ownership for meeting commitments
- Develop web apps or mobile apps using technologies such as React, Typescript, and Go
- Have previous healthcare experience and familiarity with healthcare technology and compliance
- Architect technology platforms from the ground up and maintain complex systems and integrations
- Hire software engineers, offshore firms and contractors, and grow teams.
Requirements
- Multiple years of hands-on software engineering experience
- Previous experience managing and mentoring software engineers
- Exceptional communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues from across the business
- Ability to translate business and product goals into engineering goals and priorities
- Ability to bring structure to ambiguity and make quick decisions
- Knowledge of current technology trends and best practices
- Familiarity with agile methodologies, pair programming, Domain Driven Design, CI/CD, and writing tests
- Strong sense of personal accountability and ownership
- Expertise in developing web apps or mobile apps
- Familiarity with technologies such as React, Typescript, and Go
- Authorization to work for any US employer without visa sponsorship
- Nice to have: Previous healthcare experience and familiarity with healthcare technology and compliance
- Nice to have: Hands-on experience architecting technology platforms and maintaining complex systems and integrations
- Nice to have: Experience hiring software engineers and growing teams
