About The Position

Join our innovative Money Movement team at Wise, where we provide customers with quick and convenient money transfers in North America. Our team focuses on building and maintaining scalable systems that facilitate USD and CAD transfers, with a continuous emphasis on reducing risk, improving resilience, and ensuring overall system health. We integrate with our partners and work closely with banking and payment operations teams to automate manual workflows. By leveraging cutting-edge technology, we're at the forefront of developing new features for USD, which is the most converted currency offering in the company.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful services.
  • Experience in a lead role at other companies.
  • Strong architecture and software design skills.
  • Ability to drive projects forward with strong, reasoned opinions.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity in front-end development using React.
  • Experience with caching solutions like Redis and Caffeine.
  • Willingness to travel and collaborate with team members in different global offices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain reliable software solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful services to integrate payment systems.
  • Continuously monitor and improve the health of existing integrations while enabling new ones in the future.
  • Work closely with other teams, including banking and payment operations.
  • Mentor junior engineers, establishing high-quality code standards through ongoing code reviews.
  • Utilize Docker and Kubernetes for deployments, and implement CI/CD pipelines using tools like Gradle and GitHub Actions.
  • Engage in query optimization and schema design for relational databases, including MySQL, MariaDB, and Postgres.
  • Apply hands-on knowledge of system integration patterns and distributed systems to develop scalable and reliable solutions.
  • Make data-driven decisions that prioritize customer needs and drive the success of our money transfer product.
