About the position
Vareto is seeking an experienced software engineer to join their remote-first team and play a critical role in developing their data ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building API-based services, designing and maintaining data pipelines, and working with various database technologies. They should be comfortable with rapid iterative development and have a passion for building high-quality, maintainable code. Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain API based services for handling complex query and data analytics workflows
- Implement and tune various database technologies including PostgreSQL on Aurora, key-value stores, and graph databases
- Design, build, and maintain data pipelines to ensure customer data is up to date, accurate, and highly-available
- Work as part of a small team committed to rapid iterative development and regular deployments
- Build containerized RESTful web services in Python or similar languages
- Process and manipulate data in various environments and formats such as Pandas, Parquet, SQL, CSV, XML, JSON, etc.
- Communicate effectively and articulate nuanced ideas clearly
- Bonus points for prior experience working at a startup
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field is a plus
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- Experience with CRDTs and multiplayer concurrency issues
- Experience building and maintaining data pipelines using technologies like Python, Airflow, Great Expectations, DBT, S3, and Snowflake/Redshift
- Experience building containerized RESTful web services in Python or similar languages
- Familiarity with processing and manipulating data in many different environments and formats: Pandas, Parquet, SQL, CSV, XML, JSON, etc.
- Strong communication skills
- Prior experience working at a startup is a bonus
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field is a plus
