Senior Backend Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team at Coefficient, a VC-backed SaaS startup. In this role, you will collaborate with the founders to define product requirements, design the core backend architecture, and develop scalable systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing and building complex backend systems, proficiency in Python, and a strong understanding of high-throughput data pipelines. Additionally, experience with data stores like PostgreSQL, Redis, and Cassandra, as well as deploying apps and services in a production cloud environment, is required. Effective communication skills are essential as we are a remote team.

• Define product and design core backend architecture
• Develop resilient and scalable systems from the ground up
• Design high-throughput data pipelines to support interactive, real-time use cases
• Deploy apps and services to a production cloud environment
• Ensure software development best practices and code quality
• Communicate effectively with the team, both written and verbal

• 7+ years of experience designing and building complex backend systems
• Extensive Python experience
• Experience designing high-throughput data pipelines for real-time use cases
• Production experience with data stores such as PostgreSQL, Redis, and Cassandra
• Experience deploying apps and services to a production cloud environment
• Thoughtful about software development best practices and code quality
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
