About The Position

The Security Officer is responsible for enforcing and maintaining security measures to protect organizational facilities, materials, and personnel. This role involves operating communication consoles and surveillance equipment, dispatching emergency response personnel, and responding to security incidents to ensure a safe environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must meet DOE medical and physical fitness standards.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance if required.
  • United States Citizenship is required.
  • Must maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • At least one year of security or public safety related work experience.
  • Must be able to perform duties wearing personal protective equipment.
  • Basic reading and writing ability.

  • Knowledge of security systems, devices, and building automation systems in a corporate environment.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce and maintain security measures for organizational facilities and personnel.
  • Operate communication console and surveillance equipment in the Security Operations Center.
  • Dispatch activities of emergency response personnel.
  • Provide security protection by utilizing and monitoring building automation and electronic surveillance systems.
  • Identify and coordinate appropriate responses based on console indications or events according to security guidelines.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for off-site facilities, emergency responders, and medical services.
  • Assist in handling emergency situations, including employee injuries.
  • Keep accurate records of events and occurrences based on security guidelines.
  • Perform escort duties as appropriate.
  • Prevent and report violations of security and safety rules and regulations.
  • Respond to protective alarm signals or unusual/suspicious activities.
  • Maintain knowledge of all security orders and applicable federal/state laws.
  • Protect the organization's physical assets by maintaining the facility's perimeter.
  • Patrol and protect facilities by foot and/or vehicle to detect or prevent illegal activities.
  • Enforce access control for personnel and vehicular traffic entering and exiting the complex.
  • Maintain and update visitor logs and records of deliveries and contractors.
