About The Position

The position involves assisting the Director of Nursing Services in directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing activities in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility. Responsibilities include developing, maintaining, and updating written policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with nursing service procedures, and participating in quality assurance programs. The role also involves administrative duties, committee functions, personnel management, nursing care functions, staff development, safety and sanitation, equipment and supply management, care plan and assessment functions, and budget and planning functions.

Requirements

  • Must possess a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Must have training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.
  • 2 years or more experience preferably in a long-term care facility.
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN in this state.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Knowledge and experience with PCC preferred.

  • Experience in long-term care facilities.
  • Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Nursing Services in directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing activities.
  • Participate in developing, maintaining, and updating written policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that reference material at the nurses’ stations is current.
  • Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the Director as necessary.
  • Participate in facility surveys made by authorized government agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with job descriptions by nursing service personnel.
  • Monitor absenteeism to ensure adequate staffing.
  • Develop work assignments and delegate authority to Charge Nurses.
  • Ensure that nursing service personnel comply with established policies and procedures.
  • Participate in developing and implementing the facility’s quality assurance program.
