About The Position

The Lung Transplant Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the continuity of care for patients undergoing lung transplantation. This position serves as the central point of reference for all patient-related information and involves coordinating various aspects of the transplant process, including patient assessments and care before and after transplantation. The coordinator is responsible for maintaining comprehensive documentation, participating in research activities, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years recent Intensive Care Unit and/or transplant experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or equivalent experience required.
  • Current Massachusetts licensure as a registered nurse.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in a clinical nursing specialty preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of the lung transplant process, including patient assessments and pre or post-transplant care.
  • Serve as a resource for internal and external healthcare providers regarding pre and post-transplant protocols.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation in patient medical records.
  • Participate in and support research activities within the Transplant Program and MGH Transplant Center.
  • Ensure compliance with documentation and data submission requirements from regulatory bodies such as UNOS, NEOB, and CMS.
  • Participate on committees and task forces related to organ transplantation.
  • Mentor and precept other Transplant Coordinators.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality and performance improvement standards.
  • Assist OPOs and community organizations with educational presentations and information relevant to transplant professionals and the public.
