About The Position

The Risk Control Technical Consultant, Field at Travelers Insurance Company is responsible for providing in-depth risk assessments and evaluations for complex accounts. This role involves collaborating with underwriters to understand and manage inherent risk factors, ensuring that the company can effectively differentiate its accounts from others in similar business classes. The consultant will work closely with various stakeholders to deliver risk control products and services, ultimately enhancing customer experience and mitigating potential losses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or graduate degree in environmental health and safety, engineering, construction management, basic sciences, or related technical fields.
  • Five years of experience in safety, risk control/management, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of the insurance industry and business acumen.
  • Recognized relevant certifications (such as ASP, CSP, ARM, CFPS).
  • Technical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to establish credibility and rapport quickly.
  • Experience working in a collaborative environment.
  • Critical thinking and influencing skills.
  • Negotiation skills to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Ability to give and receive coaching and feedback.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in manufacturing or large warehouse operations.
  • Familiarity with multi-location companies and larger fleet exposures.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Underwriting to select, retain, and grow a profitable book of business.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with Underwriting, Claim, Risk Control Specialists, and Brokers.
  • Complete all lines risk assessment evaluations for diverse businesses with moderate to high complexity.
  • Write technically detailed reports that communicate risk assessments and recommendations.
  • Evaluate customer needs through loss analysis and readiness to provide Risk Control products and services.
  • Identify uncontrolled exposures and influence customers to make improvements.
  • Provide solutions for risk mitigation using available resources.
  • Stay current with technical subject matters and regulatory environments.
  • Create a valued customer experience through assessments and service encounters.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
