About The Position

Zymo Research is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Microbiomics Research & Development team as a Research Technician I. This role offers an exciting opportunity to explore cutting-edge methods and technologies in microbiome research and Next Generation Sequencing. The successful candidate will be mentored by industry veterans and will be responsible for initiating and completing various assigned projects, collaborating with team members to design and execute studies, and developing products for microbiomics applications.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field.
• Experience performing molecular and cell biology techniques, including PCR, qPCR, nucleic acid purification, microbial culturing, plating, and basic microscopy.
• A proven track record of designing, executing, analyzing, documenting, and troubleshooting laboratory experiments.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

• Independently design and conduct scientific experiments for product development, performance troubleshooting, and protocol optimization.
• Perform nucleic acid purification, qPCR, library preparation, and buffer manufacturing as assigned.
• Assist with data collection and data interpretation.
• Maintain careful and accurate documentation of work.
• Conduct preventative maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Analyze and interpret data to obtain insights for project progression.
• Provide recommendations to the team leader on the next steps of the assigned projects.
• Stay current with project-related literature and apply relevant findings to ongoing research projects.
• Collaborate with other R&D team members to further multifaceted projects.
• Provide technical support for incoming customer inquiries.
• Work closely with internal subject matter experts, product managers, marketing, and manufacturing on microbiomics products and services related technical details.
• Present projects to upper-level management, technical review committee, marketing, and sales organization.
