About the position

We are seeking a dynamic leader to support our research group within the Technology Field of 'Advanced Manufacturing and Circularity' at Siemens Foundational Technologies. This role is akin to guiding a small start-up, focusing on building a robust portfolio, aligning with Siemens business units, and evolving the team's capabilities to execute projects on time and within budget. This research group provides pre-development and research services including prototyping, technology evaluation, and assessments in many areas of Advanced Digital Manufacturing. We are demonstrating the complete toolchain needed for advanced manufacturing including closed-loop control, shop-floor-specific robotics, and industrialization of Siemens hardware and software for motion control and automation. The team, embedded into the Siemens Energy Campus in Charlotte, provides tremendous opportunities because digitalization solutions using the Siemens PLM software applications in combination with new technologies can be developed and quickly tested in a real productive environment. The group also collaborates strongly with other teams in the US and globally on topics like Materials, Manufacturing, Automation Technologies, Simulation, Digital Twin, and Artificial Intelligence. In this role, you will work on-site at our Charlotte, NC facility.

Responsibilities

  • Support a research group providing pre-development and research services, including prototyping, technology evaluation, and assessments in Advanced Digital Manufacturing.
  • Support the complete toolchain for Advanced Manufacturing, including closed-loop control, shop-floor specific Robotics, Additive Manufacturing, and industrialization of Siemens hardware and software for motion control and automation.
  • Work closely with other teams in the US and globally on topics like Materials, Manufacturing, Automation Technologies, Simulation, Digital Twin, and Artificial Intelligence.
  • Develop and test digitalization solutions using Siemens PLM software applications in a real productive environment.
  • Actively participate in executing the research/innovation projects at high quality.
  • Develop tools and products for an efficient and transparent circular economy, from eco-design to proper recycling, tracking the entire product lifecycle and all its value-added stages.
  • Leverage concurrent areas of recycling, design/simulation, and validation testing of recycled materials to improve REE/CM extraction from domestic sources, particularly end-of-life batteries and manufacturing scrap.
