About the position
As a Research Associate (RA) on the Sustainable Investing team at Bridgewater Associates, your role will involve building a deep understanding of how sustainability intersects with economies and financial markets. You will collaborate with various teams to develop sustainable investing strategies and solutions, connecting company-specific sustainability views with the broader macroeconomic environment. Your responsibilities will include conducting research on sustainability topics, analyzing macroeconomic risks associated with climate transition, and communicating your findings to internal and external stakeholders. This role requires strong analytical skills, a passion for sustainability, and the ability to drive research priorities.
Responsibilities
- Build systematic assets to improve understanding of company, sovereign, and commodity sustainability
- Research a broad range of sustainability topics, such as climate transition, biodiversity, human rights, and more
- Conduct deep dives into specific companies or sectors and how they fit into the broader transition story
- Analyze the macroeconomic risks and impacts associated with the climate transition and related policies
- Communicate understanding to internal and external stakeholders via research papers, dashboards, or slide decks
- Work closely with portfolio, client, and engineering teams to build and market sustainable strategies
- Generate independent ideas and help drive the team's research priorities
Requirements
- 2+ years of prior work experience in an analytical field
- Bachelor's or master's degree from a competitive school with a strong academic and extracurricular track record
- Interest in and understanding of markets and investing, with particular affinity for sustainability
- Ability to prioritize and organize time effectively in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment, and learn about new topics quickly
- Strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to achieve results and drive projects to completion; strong attention to detail
- Ability to solve complex problems through analysis
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Strong computer skills and Microsoft Office expertise; additional analytical capabilities ideal
- Desire to become an expert in the sustainable investing space
- Desire to expand ownership of projects and research topics
