About The Position

The Remote Transportation Lead position reports directly to the Maintenance Superintendent performing on site coordination, for expediting transportation of personnel, supplies and materiel from and to airports and multiple remote sites. Coordinates and conducts uploading, transport of personnel handover to airport. Assist the Logistics Manager in overseeing maintenance status, cleanliness, and readiness of all assigned vehicles. Perform a variety of basic computer and office tasks. Train new drivers to the safety standards both the client and NMS expect. All duties are to be performed in accordance with NMS' mission, vision, and values.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least 3 years working in the Logistics group on the North slope.
  • At least three (3) years' experience as a shuttle bus driver with supervisory experience and driver training in a related field.
  • A valid Class B Commercial driver's license with passenger endorsement, air brake endorsement and valid CDL medical card.
  • Acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years with no DUI's in the last five (5) years to be eligible under NMS' vehicle insurance policy.
  • Must pass all pre-employment contract requirements which may include but are not limited to: drug test, physical and fit for duty assessment and hearing test.
  • Possess basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Must be able to cooperate and work as part of a team with fellow employees, customers and clients.
  • Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to make decisions in the moment with little to no supervision.
  • Must be able to be on your feet for 12 hours per shift for the scheduled rotation.
  • Must be able to live in dormitory style settings and meet cleanliness requirements of the remote camp.
  • Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Lead for the Logistics Team.
  • Responsible for extensive coordination, transport and delivery of a variety of items to and from Airports and multiple remote sites.
  • Provides transportation services using a variety of vehicles ranging from standard passenger vehicles to large passenger buses.
  • Provide medical evacuation assistance, mail delivery new driver and ongoing driver training.
  • Extensive driving with the possibility of foul weather conditions.
  • Locates and distributes materials to specific areas manually or using handcart, hand truck and Tommy lift.
  • Assists in tracking Logistics vehicle maintenance status and availability and helps arrange for vehicle substitutions as required.
  • Removes and properly disposes of discarded materials.
  • Removes and transports trash to the appropriate disposal areas.
  • Uses appropriate equipment and cleaning solutions for all tasks.
  • Participates in and supports corporate safety programs.
  • Notify supervisor if safety and sanitation standards are not being met.
  • This position has supervisory responsibilities.
  • Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit's success also may be assigned.
