About the position

The Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) at Mayo Clinic plays a crucial role in preventing adverse health effects from occupational and environmental hazards. This position emphasizes a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to delivering safe and comprehensive occupational health programs, focusing on preventive care, health promotion, and health restoration. The OHN collaborates with various stakeholders to assess health and safety needs, prioritize interventions, and evaluate care delivery for Mayo Clinic employees.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate designated components of the Occupational Health Services (OHS) program as assigned.
  • Work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to identify health and safety needs.
  • Prioritize interventions and develop and implement health programs.
  • Evaluate care and delivery services for Mayo Clinic employees.
  • Perform health hazard assessments and surveillance of worker populations.
  • Provide case management for occupational and non-occupational illnesses and injuries.
  • Utilize computer hardware and software effectively in daily job functions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills in occupational health and keep current on best practices.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a baccalaureate nursing program with successful experience as a Registered Nurse within the previous three years.
  • Current RN license by applicable state requirements.
  • Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers certification.
  • Experience working in occupational health within an acute care setting or public health experience preferred.
  • Master's in nursing, public health, occupational health nursing, or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) preferred.
  • Current certification in Occupational Health Nursing preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in case management of occupational and non-occupational illness and injuries.
  • Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.
