About The Position

The Quality Control Inspector at Century Metal Spinning is responsible for ensuring the quality of spun metal components throughout the production process. This role involves following inspection plans, conducting tests, and maintaining quality records while collaborating closely with production personnel and the Quality Engineer Inspection Supervisor. The inspector will utilize various inspection tools and techniques to verify product specifications and quality standards, contributing to the company's reputation for quality work in the aerospace, defense, and industrial sectors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Proficiency in using inspection tools such as vernier calipers, digital calipers, height gauges, micrometers, and CMM.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including sheet metal forming, bending, punching, spinning, laser, heat treating, and welding.
  • Understanding of mechanical properties of materials such as aluminum, steel, stainless steel, copper, and tool steels.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning for problem-solving.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

  • Follow inspection plans and inspect parts at various stages of production.
  • Maintain quality records and documents as directed by the Quality Engineer Inspection Supervisor.
  • Distribute and collect all inspection tools to and from operators, ensuring their working condition.
  • Notify the Quality Team of quality issues and collaborate to address them.
  • Work with production personnel to ensure they have the necessary inspection tools and gages for accurate inspections.
  • Verify operator's results with in-process inspections.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and quality plans.
  • Inspect products for dimensions, finishes, and specifications using various tools.
  • Perform First Article Inspection (FAI), In-Process, and Final inspections.
  • Conduct Receiving Inspections.
  • Participate in the Corrective Action process as needed.
  • Use the ERP system for documenting quality records.
  • Participate in Internal Quality Audits.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices.
  • Support all applicable ISO9001 & AS9100 standards and procedures.
