  • Designs, develops, and executes software test strategies, test plans and test scripts.
  • Confirms accuracy and completeness of functional, integration, system, end to end, and acceptance test plans.
  • Designs, creates and approves (or oversees the creation and approval of) project test cases, scripts and conditions as well as QA-related documentation.
  • Develops and ensures adherence to standardized software quality assurance best practices, policies, processes and controls as it pertains to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Develops and communicates accurate project estimates based on testing dependency analysis as requested by the project/management team.
  • Analyzes and determines test dependencies including QA environment, QA tools, training, build and deployment plans and communication processes.
  • Analyzes relevant business content and participates in requirement gathering sessions providing input on requirement and design documents, assessing requirements for testability, clarity, purpose, intent, ambiguity, contradictory functions and implementation.
  • Develops, documents and leads the Defect Management process.
  • Ensures test cases are traceable to originating story/requirement and those tests fully test feature requirements and/or user story acceptance criteria.
  • Manages defects appropriately by assigning, monitoring and providing timely communication through the defect lifecycle.
  • Conducts QA risk management process throughout the test plan phase defining and differentiating between risk, defect, and issue.
  • Identifies and resolves problems often anticipating issues before they occur or before they grow; develops and evaluates options and implements solutions.
  • Participates in requirements and use case reviews.
  • Provides accurate estimates for QA resources and testing schedules.
  • Creates and gains project approval on project test plans.
  • Creates and/or oversees the creation and approval of project test cases.
  • Works on overseeing or generating all QA-related documentation.
  • Ensures cleaning and maintaining the POS lab, equipment and storage areas.
  • Creates and maintains QA environments within Costco and as needed with vendor partners.
  • Assists with requirement tracing through the test cycle process.
  • Manages initiating, developing, updating new and or existing documentation, processes, service tickets and training.
  • Ensures adherence to standardized QA policies, processes and documentation standards.
  • Collaborates with Development to resolve defects uncovered during testing cycles.
  • Coordinates in-house, external and UAT testing and certification processes.
  • Identifies better systems and procedures to automate or improve our QA processes.
  • Assists with helping to mentor and develop other members of the IS POS QA team.
  • Stays up to date with source code, version management, and code deployment standards and utilizes this knowledge to ensure that QA processes and procedures for test environments are followed and that the integrity of the various environments are not compromised.
  • Manages QA data repository and the test data content necessary for audit process and reviews.
  • Assists with standardized reporting and QA metrics.
  • Manages weekly QA status reports.
  • Strong knowledge of HP ALM - similar test tools (Microsoft Azure DevOps, Micro Focus Octane, Aha, Jira, Trello).
  • Strong knowledge of a typical SDLC, SOA and/or DevOps methodology.
  • Experience working on QA teams as part of agile processes and methodologies.
  • Must be a self starter, with the ability to work independently, with different groups and teams, utilizing solid communication skills.
  • Available to support the business as needed including nights, weekends, after hours and on-call.
  • Ability to produce solid test results in both quantity and quality.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent testing resource planning and test scheduling skills.
  • Ability to produce effective software test plans and test cases.
  • Solid understanding of build tools and software configuration management standards.
  • Minimum 4 years' software/hardware quality assurance experience.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience testing in one or more of the following environments: 4690 OS supported application i.e. IBM/TGCS SA, ACE, GSA, Chain Drug and/or Windows Server POS Applications ie. NCR, Retalix, Wincor, Fujitsu, Cash recycling solutions, PDX, CHEC, Price Checkers, Payment solutions (integrated and semi-integrated).
  • Working knowledge of Toshiba SKY/4690 OS.
  • Working knowledge of Toshiba ACE/SKY/4690 regression tools.
  • Working knowledge of MQ and DIF and system messaging.
  • Working knowledge of Toshiba 4690 POS hardware.
  • Working knowledge of integrated and semi-integrated POS payment systems.
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of PCI, SOX and Data Governance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Costco business areas including but not limited to - Buying, Membership, ancillary and Warehouse Front End.
  • Minimum 2 years' hands-on experience using regression automation tools.
  • 2 years' experience creating test automation scripts.
  • 2+ years' as a test lead preferred.
  • 2+ years' experience with MS SQL Server or DB2 and the ability to write basic SQL queries.
  • Experience with multiple Costco business areas/systems.
  • Degree in computer science or related technical field preferred.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace applications, including Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Gmail.
