About The Position

Ames Construction is seeking an experienced Project Superintendent to manage and oversee large-scale heavy civil and mining projects. This leadership role requires a strong background in civil construction and mining operations, with a focus on managing project teams, ensuring quality standards, and maintaining safety protocols. The Project Superintendent will play a crucial role in ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required specifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mining Engineering, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in the heavy civil construction and mining industries with at least 3 years in a supervisory or superintendent role.
  • Experience with managing large-scale projects, including roadways, bridges, earthworks, mining operations, or similar heavy civil projects.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification required; MSHA certification is preferred for mining projects.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage teams and interact with clients, contractors, and vendors.
  • Familiarity with construction methods, equipment, and tools for heavy civil and mining projects.
  • Proficiency with project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Primavera, Bluebeam).
  • Ability to handle complex issues in the field and provide innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all phases of heavy civil and mining projects, ensuring successful completion within budget, schedule, and quality specifications.
  • Lead and supervise field staff, contractors, and subcontractors, ensuring effective coordination across all project activities.
  • Ensure all work complies with Ames Construction's safety policies and MSHA/OSHA regulations, promoting a safety-first culture on-site.
  • Collaborate with project managers to develop detailed work plans, schedules, and resource allocation strategies, ensuring timely delivery of project milestones.
  • Monitor and manage project budgets and costs, identifying and addressing potential cost overruns or delays.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for clients, providing project updates and managing expectations.
  • Maintain quality control over construction activities, ensuring all work meets the required standards and specifications.
  • Identify and resolve project challenges, including logistical issues, resource constraints, and unforeseen obstacles.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, change orders, daily logs, and project documentation.
