About The Position

The Project Superintendent at Verdex Construction is responsible for overseeing the execution of commercial construction projects in Gainesville, FL. This role involves providing leadership to the project team, ensuring safety and efficiency on-site, and delivering high-quality work within the scheduled timeframe. The Superintendent will manage project logistics, foster relationships with subcontractors, and maintain communication with project stakeholders to ensure project success.

Requirements

  • 10 years of hands-on construction experience with increasing responsibility or a degree in Engineering or Building Construction and 5 years of hands-on construction experience.
  • Prior experience in successfully building projects of similar size and complexity.
  • Strong internal and external communication skills.
  • Professional appearance and ability to work independently with minimal structure.
  • Commercial construction experience, including Multi-Family, Warehouse/Industrial, Hospitality, Public, School, and Senior Living projects.
  • Strong multitasking, prioritization, and pressure management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Engineering or Building Construction (preferred, but experience may be considered in lieu).
  • OSHA 10 / OSHA 30 Safety Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct turnover meetings with the Project Estimator to review project estimates.
  • Review major scopes of work prepared by the Project Manager for subcontract awards and suggest changes.
  • Prepare a baseline schedule with input from key subcontractors and provide monthly updates.
  • Identify ways to improve schedule efficiency and overcome delays with subcontractors.
  • Review key shop drawings to ensure accurate product ordering for project construction.
  • Manage project site logistics for safety, efficiency, and cleanliness.
  • Oversee daily manpower, work product, cleanup, and safety on the project site.
  • Lead preconstruction meetings with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Attend weekly job meetings to discuss project progress and address field issues.
  • Meet with the Owner weekly to discuss project status and updates.
  • Review status of general conditions items with the Project Manager monthly.
  • Complete daily reports accurately detailing manpower and job conditions.
  • Manage field issues with subcontractors to resolution.
  • Prepare detailed work lists for each trade at project completion to ensure quality standards.
  • Evaluate and mentor Assistant Superintendents and Field Engineers.
  • Adhere to all safety rules, policies, and procedures required by the company and industry standards.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuous education and networking.
