As a Project Geotechnical Engineer or Geologist, you will play a key role in managing some of the most exciting and technically challenging projects! Our geotechnical team works on a variety of transportation, energy, development, and natural resources projects. Responsibilities include planning field exploration programs, conducting technical briefings with field staff, and project management tasks including budgeting and client communications. You will also be responsible for performing engineering analyses and preparing technical reports and proposals, as well as conducting regular site visits, attending client meetings, and overseeing field explorations and construction observations. As a project manager, you will be responsible for mentoring and overseeing the work of junior staff. This role can be performed in Springfield, Kansas City or St. Louis Missouri.

  • Lead or coordinate the development and implementation of field exploration programs and construction observation projects.
  • Ensure that work performed is consistent with project plans and specifications as well as in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Assist with training junior technical and technician staff.
  • Complete engineering analyses and calculations including: pavement design, slope stability, bearing capacity, settlement, shallow and deep foundations, retaining walls, and seismic design.
  • Lead the generation of technical reports including completion of routine reports, figures, tables, etc.
  • Assist senior staff in completing portions of large, complex reports, figures, tables, etc.
  • Lead the generation of construction plans and specifications for slope stabilization, soil nail walls, soldier pile and tieback walls, and ground improvement projects.
  • Lead project management tasks such as attending project meetings, budget and schedule planning, staffing and task assignments, deliverable preparation, and proposal development.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Geology required; Master's degree with a Geotechnical Engineering focus strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Highway, bridge, heavy civil project related geotechnical experience preferred.
  • At least one year of project management experience.
  • PE and/or LG license required.
  • Professional-level verbal and written communication skills are a must.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
